Application
Field testing
Laboratory results describe the explosive. Field results describe what the explosive actually does in the rock, in the hole, at the temperature and moisture of the day. Kontinitro instruments are built to close that gap.
What is measured
Time intervals between fiber optic positions along the charge. Once the distances between probes are entered, the instrument converts those intervals into a Velocity of Detonation in meters per second.
Why it matters ?
A charge that detonates below its nominal V.O.D fragments rock less efficiently, which shows up downstream as oversize, higher crusher load and more drilling per tonne. Measuring on site is the only way to detect it.
