Field V.O.D measurement instrument.
The Explomet 3 is Kontinitro's field Velocity Of Detonation measurement instrument. It is the natural choice for V.O.D tests in the field, in quarries or in mines, using the EasyProbe System or the DCS, Duplex Cable System.
Based on the same fiber optic technology as the Explomet 2 series, the Explomet 3 is engineered for harsh environments and frequent field use.

Use and operation
The light signal emitted during the explosion is transmitted from the explosive to the instrument by optical fibers. The light signal is converted into data by the Explomet 3 and returns the V.O.D of the explosive.
The placement of the optical fibers on the explosive can be completely random. The instrument automatically unscrambles the optical fiber illumination order and restores the V.O.D data.

Common questions
What does the Explomet 3 measure?+
The Explomet 3 measures the Velocity of Detonation of an explosive in the field. It records the light flash emitted by the detonation as it reaches each plastic optical fiber sensor placed along the explosive column, and computes the V.O.D over each interval.
Where is the Explomet 3 used?+
Primarily for V.O.D testing in operational conditions: quarries, open pit mines, underground excavation and any field site where blast hole or trench V.O.D measurement is required.
Is the Explomet 3 compatible with the EasyProbe System?+
Yes. The Explomet 3 is designed to operate with the Kontinitro EasyProbe System and the DCS Duplex Cable System, returning up to five V.O.D measurements per blast over a 4.5 meter probe length, in dry or wet holes.
How are measurements stored?+
All measurements, dates, times and distances are automatically saved on an SD card, allowing easy retrieval for post processing and quality records.
