Fiber optic measurement chain
Every measurement travels as light, not as current. That single design decision is what makes measurement on a live blast site possible.
Immunity to electrical noise
A blast site is one of the noisiest electromagnetic environments in industry: firing circuits, long cable runs, static build-up. An optical link carries no ground loop and picks up no induced voltage, so the recorded event is the detonation and nothing else.
Isolation between charge and instrument
Plastic optic fiber places no electrical conductor between the explosive and the measuring equipment, which keeps the instrument electrically isolated from the charge.
Practical consequences
Probes are inexpensive, consumable and quick to prepare on site. The EasyProbe system exists precisely to reduce the preparation time per measurement position.
